( http://gettingninehundred.blogspot.com/2008/06/trashed.html) Truth be told, if going through dumpsters was one of the only ways I had to survive, I would. No hesitations. However, considering it would take 200 cans to fill my tank, that's a lot of digging. What I do instead is save money by not buying pop, though when friends leave cans or bottles at my home, I bring those in and consider them clinking, clanking slightly smelly grocery coupons. :)Dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14703479564503074258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7019112442705574172.post-6837762183581965212009-02-02T16:12:00.000-05:002009-02-02T16:12:00.000-05:00Louise - Yep! It makes me feel better about my small victories and large mistakes because I am actively working on it and new to it. In my neighborhood I see entire families digging through dumpsters collecting cans which they then turn in for cash. It might only be an extra tank of gas but that's something.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7019112442705574172.post-22660956254725163052009-01-28T10:36:00.000-05:002009-01-28T10:36:00.000-05:00Amen Catie!! It can easily be learned and then it's just a matter of building good habits. The "I'm just not good with money" excuse doesn't fly!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7019112442705574172.post-28485016273722484302009-01-28T10:30:00.000-05:002009-01-28T10:30:00.000-05:00So many people measure success by milestones, Kris...So many people measure success by milestones, Kristy. I can see the point of that, but I also think that success can also be defined as just continuing to plug away and not give up on your dreams.

Interesting what you write about being a big picture person. I have my own foibles in getting goals done. Simple Money just wrote a post about his - that might make a good post for me!Dawnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14703479564503074258noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7019112442705574172.post-73240161952043032592009-01-28T00:48:00.000-05:002009-01-28T00:48:00.000-05:00Great post! Most people don't consider themselves successes until they reach the goal, but you're absolutely right, as long as people continually work towards achieving their goals, they are successful. They haven't quit and that's the important part!

I'm a very big picture kind of person. I often find that I overwhelm myself so much because I don't break things down into more manageable pieces. This is something I'm working on for 2009 because I know it would tremendously improve my achievements within my goals. I'd be less stressed and a good deal more organized!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
